Chief McGuire began his Public Safety career in 1971 for Murray City. He came to work for West Jordan City in 1975. He worked in the Patrol, K-9, and Investigations units and worked through the ranks as Corporal, Sergeant, and Lieutenant, and was made Director of West Jordan Public Safety Department in 1989. Chief McGuire earned his Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Science and Master's Degree in Adult Education both from Westminster College. He attended the National Fire Academy in Emmetsburg, Maryland, and the National FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
